Green Kensal Green Campaign

Do you live in the triangle shown on the map?

Do you wish to live in a totally green area, where bio products are available to you at wholesale prices, where some of the roads are reclaimed as green spaces for the children to play in, where residents swap skills rather than use money to pay for services, where concreted over front gardens are returned to butterfly havens, where the sense of community is so strong that even dreams can come true?

Well that's what we want too. Surely everybody does. Green Kensal has been set up to make this a reality.

Please come and visit us to share your eco and community ideas and we'll see if we can put them into practice.

Kensal Green Floods

Kensal Green Tornado

In the face of climate change and habitat fragmentation this little area still has enormous untapped potential for both people and wildlife.

A bio diverse street can provide shade, absorb carbon, soak up flood water, retain water, help to cool the city and provide vital habitats for wildlife. A strong network of wildlife and climate friendly streets starting here in Kensal Green then stretching out across London will provide vital room for last leg species to move more freely and adapt to our changing climate.

Here's a list of our missions.

Bird box/ Log campaign.

We sell logs for a fiver each, when a street has bought 4 logs we put a bird box in it. The logs attract the insects, the insects attract the birds. Cool. See the map below to see which streets have bought so far.

Trees planted for traffic calming.

Yeah, that's right. Instead of those horrible speed bumps that judder the car and wake the kids up why not plant a tree in the middle of the road. That'll slow the ####### down, and of course look beautiful at the same time. It'll also of encourage bio-diversity and make Kensal Green a really funky looking place to live in.

Plant up Front

Replace the front garden wall with a hedgerow, grow a climber up the front of your house. That's a huge amount of new green if we all to do it. ( It seems unfair though to give up your front garden parking space to encourage bio-diversity and then get lumped with residential parking fees. We are lobbying the council to waive parking fees for those who plant up front. )

Eco Products

Profit and ecology should not be mentioned in the same sentence as far as we are concerned. To that end we have started a new concept in eco shopping.

Every new product we sell here that is commonly regarded as a necessity ,washing up liquid, soap, light bulbs etc, we will sell to you for just what it costs us to buy and store it, so everyone can afford it.
